Enough is enough: Leave Paula Deen alone

You'll eat my bird and like it, ya'll
It was easy to understand the harsh, almost gleeful coverage that followed Food Network chef Paula Deen’s admission of what some viewers had long wondered: The self-crowned queen of Southern cooking, the doyenne of deep fried, has Type 2 diabetes. And, in an effort to “bring something to the table,” she had signed on as a paid spokeswoman for the diabetes drug Victoza, made by Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, Jane Black wrote for The Washington Post
With a name like Jane Black, it’s easy to understand her innate bitterness. What’s not easy to understand is her acceptance, her expectation rather, of women being bitches to other women.

This is a work of art, ya'll

Giddyup, cracky!

“Honey, I’m your cook, not your doctor. You have to be responsible for yourself.”
This long-time saying of Deen’s says it all. Are we to berate an alcoholic bartender if he concocts cocktails that lead to patrons developing liver problems? Give me a break! America is turning into a blame the other guy pansy-ass society a little bit more each day, and all of this nonsense needs to stop right this minute.
Virginia Willis, a food writer in Atlanta, said that criticisms directed at Deen often reflect sexism and stereotyping about the South, in addition to food snobbery.
“No one vilifies Michelin chefs for putting sticks of butter in their food,” she said. “But when a Southern woman does it, that’s tacky.”
And what about the beloved Julia Child? She never met a stick of butter she didn’t like. Who scolded her? No one. In fact, her kitchen sits at the Smithsonian.
Truth be told, there are countless chefs who also suffer with type 2 diabetes. Most of them are men.
Michael Mignano, a Long Island, N.Y., pastry chef who will appear on “Fat Chef,” said butterfat is “a constant companion for chefs in high-end restaurant kitchens,” where he has spent most of his career.
“The only difference is that Paula Deen does it on TV,” he said.
Take responsibility for your own actions, read this, have a fried Twinkie and don’t call me in the morning.
