Happy Birthday, Stockard Channing!

• Stockard Channing is having another birthday. Whooooop!

Yes, Stockard Channing. She was born February 13, 1944 in New York City.

Most of you know and love Stocks for her turn in Grease.

The name is Rizzo. Betty Rizzo.

Of course Channing is now known for shows like The West Wing and The Good Wife and for her portrayal of Ouisa in Six Degrees of Separation, both on Broadway and in film.  And the list goes on and on.  Channing is a showbiz fixture, and the arts would be a lesser place without her in it.

But I first became aware of Channing in the fabulously campy and hilariously tragic The Girl Most Likely to… penned by none other than Joan Rivers.

In it, jock boys (maybe Channing Tatum could do the remake, with Stockard in the Ed Asner role) and cheerleaders turn her into a joke due to her fugliness and social awkwardness. But while major plastic surgery made her all pretty on the outside, the bitterness she harbored for the unkind stayed completely intact — and then begins the real fun — as she exacts revenge on everyone who’d wronged her.

Heaven.
