ATLANTA (AP) — Chris Kelly, half of the 1990s kid rap duo Kris Kross, who made one of the decade’s most memorable songs with the frenetic “Jump,” died at an Atlanta hospital on Wednesday at his home, authorities said. He was 34.

Amy Schumer didn’t waste a minute in the debut episode of her new Comedy Central show, Inside Amy Schumer. She went straight for the filthy. The very, very literally filthy. The first segment in Tuesday night’s show dealt with an actress deciding whether she should take on a role in a production, the description of which made me want to take a hot shower for a half hour and gargle repeatedly with Listerine.

Yesterday I saw The Place Beyond the Pines, the wonderfully acted film from director Derek Cianfrance. There was plenty I liked about this effort: the sweeping storyline with its Dickensian coincidences (which nevertheless seem plausible); the startlingly abrupt yet necessary point-of-view shifts; the clever and subtle cinematographic motifs; the satisfying performances from stars Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper, along with effective turns from members of the supporting cast (including the beautiful and vulnerable Eva Mendes.)
