“American Idol” Spoiler — Who was sent packing…

joshua-ledet-440

After nearly 90 million votes, Jessica and Phillip are season 11′s finalists. That means Joshua was voted off. “I want to win, but at this point we’re all winners,” Ledet, who hugged the judges while singing “It’s a Man’s World” to end the show, told PEOPLE on Wednesday. “I’m not gonna say I don’t care, but I will be just as happy about me winning or two of my friends, Phillip or Jessica.” That “beauty pagent” line never rings true — but they keep trying to get us to choke it down.

Maria Menounos Eliminated From “Dancing With The Stars” — Fans call for recount!

MARIA MENOUNOS, DEREK HOUGH

Color me disgruntled. The best (and most attractive) dancers were voted off “Dancing with The Stars” — despite having (near) perfect scores! Menounos said, “I learned so many things — how strong I was, to persevere … I want to thank everyone here. I want to thank Derek and my family and everyone who voted for us.” It’s not about the dancing anymore, but about football fans dialing like crazy for NFL star Donald Driver.

Desperate Housewives Series Finale: Here’s to you, Mrs. McCluskey…

mrsm

Last week, Eva Longoria was on Extra! being probed for Desperate Housewives finale secrets. Longoria’s lips were sealed, but she did throw viewers this “bone.” “Someone dies — but it’s not one of us…” Longoria’s tabloid-TV quip bubbled up to the surface as I watched a frail Mrs. McCluskey donning her wig and oxygen tank — announcing she was headed off to hospice during the first moments of last night’s episode. I thought, “That ‘not one of us’ line was a pretty crummy thing to say.” I mean, seriously? Without McCluskey “Wisteria Lane” would be “Wisteria Street.” Sort of the…

Britney Spears inks deal with “The X Factor”

BritneySpears2

After months of speculation, pop star Britney Spears has reportedly signed on as a judge for the second season of The X Factor, according to E! Online. Jason Trawick received approval in April from Superior Court Judge Reva Goetz to become a co-conservator over the Grammy-winning singer. He joins her father Jamie Spears in that role and will have control over several decision-making aspects of her personal life but not in managing her assets. Trawick was instrumental in setting up “The X Factor” deal.

Megan Hilty says “Bombshell” musical won’t land on Broadway soon

Turn her Loos: Megan Hilty

Tonight Megan Hilty–who plays Ivy on NBC’s Smash–opens at New York’s City Center in the Encores! production of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Hilty will take the role of Anita Loos’ legendary siren Lorelei Lee, portrayed by Carol Channing in the original 1949 Broadway run of the show and by Marilyn Monroe in the 1953 film. There have been rumors that Smash‘s fictional Monroe biomusical, Bombshell, will eventually make its way to the New York stage. Such a venture would make sense, as the show has a built-in fan base. I mean, some of us have been humming the Bombshell songs “Let…

Matt Taibbi on prez election: What’s missing is the donkey splooge

taibbi

In a blisteringly entertaining piece on the 2012 election’s yawn factor, Matt Taibbi of Rolling Stone writes about how reporters, talking heads and other media types will try in an election year to generate suspense (or at least some basic interest) in presidential politics—and about how that effort is failing this time around. Writes the blunt-spoken pundit (who isn’t exactly thrilled with Obama but believes there’s no way Romney can win): “…Obama versus Romney is the worst reality show on TV since the Tila Tequila days. The characters are terrible, there’s no suspense, and the biggest thing is, it lacks…

Joe Biden’s remarks on same-sex marriage “A mess for The White House”

yellin

CNNs Chief White House Correspondent Jessica Yellin and Equality Matters President Richard Socarides discussed President Obama’s campaign strategy on the issue of same-sex marriage after Vice President Joe Biden touched off a political firestorm Sunday when he said he now believes same-sex marriages should be protected under law. Anderson Cooper asked of Biden’s remarks …”Is this Joe Biden speaking out of turn, which he often does (Oh, snap!) or is this the White House wanting to have it both ways?” Yellin pointed out that Biden’s remarks were not planned, adding that “This was not a calculated roll out by The…

Rihanna in hot water over rehearsal no-show, her vag could not be reached for comment

rihanna-snl-xfactor-performances1

Rihanna was a no-show for her final rehearsal for “Saturday Night Live” which is taped before a live audience. TMZ reports that no one at SNL believed she was actually sick as she had claimed, and that no SNL producer could recall a musical act pulling a stunt like this in recent memory. Lorne Michaels was said to be “very angered” by the no-show as he takes dress rehearsals very seriously. ” I know Rihanna isn’t on national television patting her vagina #SNL” OHH but she is — Erik Alan Davis (@erikdavis88) May 6, 2012 But was that any reason…
