Just came from seeing Colin Donnell in the Encores! version of Stephen Sondheim’s “Merrily We Roll Along.” From my vantage point (granted, not that close) Donnell as the character Franklin Shepard looked like the young Sondheim himself. Partly, no doubt, it was the early-1960s costumes. Weren’t men’s sweaters cool, spiffy, and neat-o back then?
